Mueller’s Deputy Exposed as Anti-Trump in Email Praising Obama Holdover for Obstructing Trump’s Travel Ban

Only days after revealed a top FBI investigator on Robert Mueller’s special counsel, Peter Strzok, was dismissed for sending blatant anti-Trump text messages to his mistress (also an FBI employee) over the summer, now it appears another key member of Mueller’s team has also been tainted by partisan politics.

Today, Judicial Watch released an email obtained from an FOIA request that revealed Mueller’s deputy prosecutor, Andrew Weissmann, celebrated a decision by former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates to directly defy Trump’s travel ban and refuse to enforce it.

Recall that Sally Yates, an Obama holdover and Acting Attorney General prior to Jeff Sessions assuming the role, was fired on January 30^th after she openly refused to enforce President Trump’s travel ban on countries with high levels of terrorist activity. However, her act of “resistance” was short lived and ultimately served no purpose besides exposing her as hopelessly partisan.

Yates wrote a letter to the Justice Department saying, “At present, I am not convinced that the defense of the executive order is consistent with these responsibilities, nor am I convinced that the executive order is lawful.”  She continues by stating, “I am responsible for ensuring that the positions we take in court remain consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right.”

President Trump, who was famous for his phrase of “you’re fired” during his time with The Apprentice reality show, acting swiftly to terminate Yates’ participation in the Justice Department, stating that she is “weak on borders and very weak on illegal immigration.”

As was reaffirmed by the Supreme Court only days ago, President Trump was well within his authority to institute a travel ban, despite leftist judges believing otherwise, which effectively proved that Yates’ defiance was based on nothing more than her own leftist agenda rather than the US Constitution.

Sally Yates was fired by President Trump at 9:16pm on January 30^th and only an hour afterwards it appears Andrew Weissmann, who is currently serving as Mueller’s deputy, praised her act of defiance against Trump in an email sent directly to her.

The subject line of Weissmann’s email says “I’m so proud” followed by “And in awe” in the body of the email. He also states, “Thank you so much. All my deepest respects, Andrew Weissmann”

Weissmann appears to be references Yates’ refusal to follow through with a presidential order and her willingness to lose her job because of it, which is an obvious slight towards Trump. For Weissmann to praise her for such a dereliction of duty in order to insult Trump would indicate he not only agrees with her action, but respects and admires her for it.

In either case, this presents a clear conflict of interest on Weissmann’s part as well as showing a blatant anti-Trump bias. If the roles were reversed and Weissmann was caught praising an act of defiance against Hillary Clinton while being part of a special counsel investigating her many alleged crimes, you can bet that the media and pundits would be calling for his removal from the case.

In addition to Weissmann offering a congratulatory email to Yates for her anti-Trump bias, he is also one of the many Democrat donors currently occupying Mueller’s special counsel, contributing $2,300 to Obama in 2008 and $2,000 to the DNC in 2006.

Weissmann’s email and donations to Democrat causes aren’t the only factors that indicate he is tainted as a prosecutor, but he also has a long history of unethical strong-arm tactics and having his legal victories overturned by higher courts.

Yet Mueller tapped a different sort of prosecutor to lead his investigation — his long-time friend and former counsel, Andrew Weissmann. He is not just a “tough” prosecutor. Time after time, courts have reversed Weissmann’s most touted “victories” for his tactics. This is hardly the stuff of a hero in the law.

Weissmann, as deputy and later director of the Enron Task Force, destroyed the venerable accounting firm of Arthur Andersen LLP and its 85,000 jobs worldwide — only to be reversed several years later by a unanimous Supreme Court.

Next, Weissmann creatively criminalized a business transaction between Merrill Lynch and Enron. Four Merrill executives went to prison for as long as a year. Weissmann’s team made sure they did not even get bail pending their appeals, even though the charges Weissmann concocted, like those against Andersen, were literally unprecedented.

Weissmann’s prosecution devastated the lives and families of the Merrill executives, causing enormous defense costs, unimaginable stress and torturous prison time. The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed the mass of the case.

Weissmann quietly resigned from the Enron Task Force just as the judge in the Enron Broadband prosecution began excoriating Weissmann’s team and the press began catching on to Weissmann’s modus operandi.

Mueller knows this history. Is this why he tapped Weissmann to target Paul Manafort?

As Mueller’s deputy investigator, Weissmann spearheaded the investigation in Trump’s former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, which we now know resulted in a pre-dawn raid on Manafort’s home in attempt to intimidate him into “cooperating”, even though Manafort’s lawyer had already turned over all relevant legal documents to the special counsel.

Is it any surprise that Mueller chose Weissmann as his deputy with his long history of forgoing all ethics and morals for the sake of intimidating witnesses and securing flimsy prosecutions that are overturned by higher courts?

Known as Mueller’s “pit-bull”, Weissmann has now been exposed as yet another biased prosecutor tainted by politics who has no place on a taxpayer funded special counsel.

With two officials deeply involved in the “Russian collusion” investigation (which oddly has yet to reveal  even a shred of evidence proving collusion) now shown to have disqualifying biases, rumors are making their way across social media that even more lawyers on Mueller’s team may be exposed in the coming weeks.

Even without emails or text messages revealing an anti-Trump bias on the part of Mueller’s lawyers, it should be clear based on political donations and past legal involvements that their entire investigation is incapable of being unbiased and fair. In fact, their entire mission statement could be aptly summed up as “Get Trump”, regardless of actual evidence or the truth getting in their way.
