A video has been released of U.S. warships launching dozens of cruise missiles against a Syrian government-controlled air base Thursday in a major retaliatory strike against Syrian president Bashar Assad for alleged chemical attacks against scores of civilians earlier this week.
“The missiles were launched by the Rota, Spain-based U.S. guided missile destroyers USS Ross and USS Porter from the Mediterranean Sea and were programmed to hit aircraft shelters, ammunition storage sites, radar sites, aircraft and fuel sites at Shayrat Air Base. That base is where Assad regime military aircraft that carried out the chemical strike launched from, President Donald Trump said in an address to the nation Thursday night.”
In the launching of an attack against Syrian military assets President Trump will likely have an advantage in being able to silence the mainstream media’s unfounded claims of him colluding with Russia, yet it could lead to opening up a much larger conflict depending on the outcome.
As during the election, you can typically gauge if an act is good for America and the American people by the types of politicians who are praising or condemning it. Note that John McCain, Lindsay Graham and Marco Rubio are all praising Trump’s swift military action in retaliation for alleged chemical attacks by Assad.
My only question is, why would Assad use chemical weapons when he is currently winning against ISIS and gaining ground when he knows it would spell certain doom for his rule?
